People that identify as deaf or hard of hearing are invited to join us for a morning sailing in our accessible keelboats. Not sure what a keelboat is, all OK we will show you!

All our volunteers are experienced sailors willing to assist people with disabilities give sailing a go.

Not sure you have enough sailing experience? All OK, you just need to be willing to give sailing a try supported by volunteers with sailing experience.

Please let us know what support you require to safely get into and around a boat, and if you will be attending this event with a support person/ interpreter.

– Sail between 10AM and 12:30PM on Sunday the 10th November 2024.

– Please arrive 30 min before the session starts (at 09:30AM), and find your way to the dinghy division area to check in/ sign in with Sailability WA.

–  We will introduce you to your volunteer skipper and or crew, show you how to put on a personal floatation device (PFD).

– Meet your volunteer skipper and crew to go on your sailing adventure! and learn about wind awareness, and on water safety before embarking on your sailing boat.

– Your volunteer skipper or crew will introduce you to the boat you will be sailing in and provide some assistance to embark if needed.

– When you are on your way, your skipper and crew will explain the basics of how to make your boat sail on ‘different points of sail’. You can join in and help to make the boat sail as much as you want to by trying out trimming sails and steering the boat.

Refund Policy

You can cancel your own ticket 12 hours before the event begins. Please let us know by text if you are not going to make it on any sailing day. Our organisation is run by volunteers, and for safety reasons we need experienced volunteers to be rostered on for each sailing date.

Cancellations due to strong wind forecast.

Each event on a day is subject to weather conditions, which means if the breeze is strong (gusting consistently over16 knots = 30 kms per hour) we will need to cancel. Sailability WA make a decision about a cancellation the day before at 3PM, as this is the most accurate forecast for the following day. Most events go ahead, but in the case that an event needs to be cancelled a refund will be given.
